On May 25th, Dr. Huiyan Fu delivered a lecture titled: “Exclusion and Unequal Inclusion: Interrogating Labour Flexibility through the Lens of Temporary Agency Work.’ Not only did she discuss the situation of temporary workers in Japan but she also provided insight into the activities, actions and issues of community unions that are trying to improve conditions for temporary workers.
Her descriptions of recent fieldwork with these unions stimulated lively debate and discussion among the audience who were keen to know more about how these organisations work and enact social change.
